Paying for a cleanout nobody budgeted for

A hauling bill arrives with a move, a death, a remodel or a letter from the HOA, which is to say at the worst time. Here is how people here pay, what we can arrange for a big job, and what an insurer, a landlord or an estate may cover.

On the day

Most jobs are paid when the truck is loaded, by card, check, bank transfer or cash, at the price the crew named before anything moved. There is no deposit for a pickup or a one-day cleanout. You get a dated receipt by text or email, which is the piece of paper housing, a landlord, an HOA or an executor usually wants.

Big jobs, in stages

An estate cleanout over several days or a hoarding plan over several weeks is invoiced per visit, so you are paying for the work done, not the whole plan up front. For a very large job we can arrange third-party financing with fixed monthly payments; the lender sets the approval, the rate and the terms, not us, and we will say so plainly rather than dress it up.

Landlords and property managers

Turnover and abandoned-unit cleanouts are invoiced per address, one invoice per unit, to the management company if that is who is paying. Where a tenant's deposit is being applied to the cleanout, the itemised invoice is usually what the accounting needs.

Estates

An estate cleanout is normally paid by the estate, through the executor or the attorney, against the dated receipt and, if you want it, a list of what went to donation for the file. We can invoice the estate directly and wait for the usual processing time if the executor asks ahead.

Insurance

Homeowners insurance does not pay to haul away old furniture. It can cover debris removal after a covered loss, a hail-damaged roof tear-off, a tree on the shed, a burst pipe that ruined the basement contents, usually as a line within the claim. Photograph everything before it moves and ask the adjuster; we provide dated photos and an itemised receipt when it helps.

HOA and city letters

If the letter has a deadline and a description of what has to go, bring it. We price exactly that, meet the date, and give you the dated receipt and photographs as proof of compliance.

Military families

Some of a PCS move-out cost can be a reimbursable moving expense depending on your orders and the rules in force at the time; that is between you and your finance office, and we don't give advice on it. What we do is give you the itemised, dated receipt that a claim needs.
